Solarig will become a world reference in the solar photovoltaic energy generation with the construction, within two years, of solar platforms with a total capacity of 100 MW. So far, Solarig’s strategy has been focused on the integral development of solar photovoltaic energy projects, giving priority to Spain. However, given the favourable moment for renewable energy investments in other European countries, the Spanish company has taken its first steps towards these markets, considering this expansion a strategic and unavoidable pillar for its near future. Greece, Italy, France and China have been selected for the first phase of the internationalization process. Two months ago, Solarig opened a trade office in China to make an in‐depth analysis and evaluation of significant investment projects in the Asian country, which in short will turn into reality.
Solarig's main activities are focused on investment, promotion and operation of solar photovoltaic platform and projet on a turnkey basis which include the economic and technical feasibility, the set up, and the integral operation and maintenance of the solar platforms during their whole life.
Besides, Solarig bets on innovation, research and development as a personal identity mark, the best example being the photovoltaic platform situated in Almazán (Soria) which combines three innovative technologies of last generation such as: high efficiency monocrystalline solar panels, second generation thin film photovoltaic modules and concentration technology. The latter represents one of the first real tests of power generation on a large scale with Fresnel lens concentrators and solar trackers. Furthermore this innovative bet aims at obtaining much higher energy efficiencies and getting actual comparative data, between the different technologies, on production, behaviour and efficiency with regard to other environmental factors such as low temperatures and altitude.
Solarig’s strategy intends to strengthen tremendously the development of all its projects. In this sense, the Spanish company is building solar photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 16 MW and forecasting the imminent construction of another 16 MW of additional capacity. Therefore, Solarig will be able to own a business portfolio of 100 MW in the near future, thus becoming one of the photovoltaic sector leaders.
Finally and following its 2007‐2009 strategic plan, the company will invest 100 million Euros in productive assets to maintain Solarig’s current expansion and growth model.
