German company begins to connect to the network the first facilities of a plant with new numbers of record. City Solar sets up 200 individual equipments with 100 KWp each – a mega project which was started in August 2006 and will be finalized in the late summer of 2007.
500,000 square meters of area, as big as 71 pitches – that suffices to make clear the dimension of this project. The solar park in Beneixama, Spain, outshines everything previous. The works are completely in time schedule. 100,000 polycrystalline City-Solar-Modules (PQ 200) will deliver clean current for more than 12,000 households at the end.
The orders are almost all carried out by Spanish companies. The German Siemens group takes responsibility for the electrical equipment. After the placing into operation up to ten new and durable jobs arise for the maintenance of the plant. Originally a cogeneration plant was planned in Beneixama. This, however, failed in the end because of the resistance of citizen’s groups and affected city halls. On searching an non-polluting alternative the plan of a “Huerto Solar” ("solar garden") came up again by local environmentalists.
